Math 241 Section C: Midterm the second

When:

Tuesday, October 20 from 6:45–8:00pm. The exam itself starts at 7:00, but please be there at 6:45 to be seated.

Please do not enter the exam room until instructed.
The exam you are handed will have an assigned seat in the upper left corner. If you have difficultly finding your seat, please ask a TA.
The test is closed book and closed notes.
No calculators, cell phones, or other electronic devices. The time will be posted.
Please bring your student ID.

Special tutoring, office hour, and class schedule for October 19–23:

Office hours: Tuesday 10:00–11:00am and Friday 12:30–1:30pm in 314F Harker Hall.
Tutoring Monday and Thursday from 5-8pm in 2101 Everitt. No tutoring on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Class on Monday and Friday as usual, but no class on Wednesday. Discussion sections meet on Tuesday and Thursday as usual.

Covers Sections 14.6–14.8, 13.1, 13.2 (through Example 3), 13.3 (through Example 2), 13.4 (through Example 2), and 16.1–16.3.

Problems will be similar to those on the HW and discussion worksheets. Some will be straight computations, others will be conceptual short answer questions, and others multiple choice or true/false questions. Taken collectively, the HW should be viewed as constituting a study guide for this exam.

Review Problems:

In WebAssign, there are assignments called "Chapter 13 review" and similar which correspond to the review problems at the end of that chapter. After you try the problem once, it will show you the complete solution. The problems that are relevant to this exam are:

Chapter 13: Problems 1-6, 24-37, 54-61.
Chapter 14: Problems 7-12, 157-216.
Chapter 16: Problems 4-6, 8, 14-74.

Conflict Exam:

If you have a conflict with the exam time, please consult the university policy on evening midterm exams. Based on that, if you think your situation qualifies you to take the conflict exam, please fill out this webform at least one week before the exam date. The conflict exam will be held Wednesday, October 21 from 7:45–8:55am in TO BE ANNOUNCED (note that is in the morning, not the evening).
